  对声音的处理有节目录制、广播播出及声音重放系统。重放系统中扩声对听闻效果的影响很大,良好的扩声系统,对保证音质以及艺术效果有很大的决定性作用。以往扩声系统考虑较多的只是房间的声场,以及电声设备的配置。但从扩声系统的效果及对象来看,扩声技术应是建筑环境声学、电声学、音乐声学及无线电子学和艺术诸领域内的知识有机地结合在一起的跨学科技术。 在扩声技术中有不少声学问题需要考虑,如语言心理声学、建筑声学、电声学以及音乐声学,是影响扩声质量的主要因素。扩声质量的优劣在很大程度上取决声场质量。虽然对旧有的厅堂改造可以采取补救的方法,消除原声场存在的缺陷,但毕竟是改造,不可能十全十美地满足要求,这就需要用硬件来校正厅堂音质。例如对混响时间过长的大厅,可用分散强指向性扬声器系统及频率均衡器保证一定的语言可懂性。而对于混响短而不适用于大型音乐演出的厅堂,可利用混响效果器来调整厅堂的混响时间。利用硬件来修正厅堂的音质是基于掌握厅堂的声场基础,也就是说盲目地运用硬件不一定达到提高扩声质量的目的,因此从事扩声技术的人员需要掌握较深的声学知识。
